Few meals are more American than the traditional juicy burger and milkshake. But sometimes it's hard to find the perfect burger to cure your craving. Your taste buds need the perfect mix of savory, salty, and succulent for a truly satisfying burger. When you're in the Farmington area, there are several quality establishments to help you end your craving and get your grumbly belly filled.
Read on for our list of where to find the best burgers around Farmington.
The Factory Diner
When it comes to comfort food, you want consistency and quality. The Factory Diner has three convenient locations that share recipes and can provide you with your food fix before the hangry monster comes to visit. With their two spots in Farmington and one in Park Hills, your burger is never far away. They serve breakfast all day long and have a wide selection of menu items featuring eggs. Still, the diner really delivers when it comes to burgers.
The Factory Diner has nine different Gourmet County burgers on the menu for customers to choose from. All burgers start with a generous half-pound of quality beef cooked to perfection and served with your choice of fries or a garden salad. And there's everything from your typical mushroom and Swiss cheeseburger to the cheddar and jalapeno burger.
Still, we suggest you mix the two things The Factory Diner does best: breakfast and burgers. They top their Bacon and Egg Burger with an over-easy egg, two thick slices of crunchy bacon, and a melted slice of American cheese. Be sure to ask for extra napkins when you order this one.
They also serve gyro wraps, patty melts, special sandwiched, and triple-decker clubs. If you want something lighter than a burger or filling sandwich, try one of their fresh-from-the-garden salads. The Taco Salad is a generous serving of fresh lettuce, topped with tomato, onion, jalapeno, seasoned sirloin beef, and two different kinds of cheese. To add, you'll get the flavors of a burger without the heavy carbs. Their kids menu is available for 12-year-olds and younger and includes pancakes, chicken tenders, and crispy quesadillas.
All three locations offer dine-in or carry-out services. Their hours of operation are from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Although reservations are not required, they accept call-ahead reservations to accommodate large parties.
12 West Bar and Grill
12 West is one of those hidden gems in downtown Farmington, and locals love it. This versatile, upscale bar and restaurant is perfect for grabbing a quick lunch with friends, holding a business meeting, or celebrating an anniversary. The welcoming atmosphere puts customers at ease, and the staff is attentive to diners' needs. The decor creates a lovely environment that enhances the overall dining experience.
For a complete experience, begin your meal with the stuffed mushrooms. The savory little buttons are stuffed with a smooth filling of garlic-herb cream cheese with melted cheddar. Then go big with a burger. They all begin with a half-pound of hand-shaped beef and are served with shoestring fries. You can substitute a salad, parmesan herb fries, onion rings, soup, or gourmet sweet potato fries for $1.50 more. Each burger is made to order, from rare to well done.
For some fire in your palate, order their Disco Inferno. It is topped with double pepper jack cheese, specialty pepper relish, onion tanglers, and chipotle mayo, all nestled on a warm, buttered brioche bun. And because 12 West offers a vegetarian-friendly menu, there's even a black bean burger option. It comes with tomato jam, chipotle mayo, and fresh spinach on top of toasted wheat berry bread.
This grill is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. For questions or to make a reservation, call 573-760-1135.
Spoke's Pub and Grill

To begin with, Spoke's has generous servings for a great price and a varied menu that is sure to please even the pickiest of palates. You can choose from salads, wraps, sandwiches, nachos, and shrimp.
Begin your experience with some bison meatballs. They are served with house-made bourbon barbecue sauce perfect for dipping. Follow that up with one of their specialty burgers with quality and local Crown Farms' beef from Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. You can even make it bison for $2 more. If you have a small appetite, try the Training Wheels, which is three slider burgers topped with provolone, cheddar, and pepper jack cheese. For a heftier appetite, order the Mega Burger. It is two 8 ounce Angus beef patties topped with bacon and both Swiss and American cheese, served on a split-top bun.
Top off your meal with one of their fried twinkies. They serve it with their signature blackberry wine sauce, and it is the perfect ending to an indulgent meal. Wash everything down with one of their craft beers. Spoke's updates their beer menu often, so go back frequently to try all the new flavors. It'll be worth the calories.
