Which are the top used truck models? As always, that can be a matter of debate and discussion. But we put together a list for you to consider, based on a 2018 study from iSeeCars.com. The car-buying search engine examined data from the sales of more than four million vehicles and came up with the used vehicles that sell the fastest. The study named these trucks to be among the most popular because they spent the least amount of time on the market.
Honda Ridgeline

The Honda Ridgeline was the hottest light-duty truck in the iSeeCars study, spending only 39.3 days on the market before changing hands. Introduced in 2004, the Ridgeline is the only light-duty pickup in the Honda line. Edmunds has named the Ridgeline as its top mid-sized pickup truck for several years running, right up to the current 2021 model year. Edmunds reviewers cite its "smooth ride, innovative storing options, and quiet and comfortable interior." The Ridgeline comes with a single-engine configuration that puts out up to 280 horsepower. In 2021, the Ridgeline was available in four color options and four trims.
Toyota Tacoma
Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks don't linger long on the dealer lot, according to the iSeeCars.com study. The Tacoma on average sold after about 42 days on the market. The Tacoma has been produced by Toyota continuously since 1995, making it one of the oldest light-duty pickups still going in production. In 2021, Edmunds praised Tacoma's interior controls for their ease of use. The writers also liked Tacoma's ruggedness in off-road environments. In the 2021 model year, the Tacoma was available in nine color choices and four trim.
Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The fastest-selling American truck in the iseecars.com study from 2018 was the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, which stayed on the market for an average of about 50 days. The Silverado is also one of the longest-tenured trucks still on the market, having been first introduced right around the turn of the millennium.
Edmunds reviewers liked the size of the truck's cabin, as it offers a healthy amount of rear legroom for passengers. They also think you'll like the generous number of tie-downs in the rear bed as well as the size and location for the interior infotainment display screen. The Silverado 1500 in 2021 was only offered in a single trim, but you have a choice of nine different colors.
RAM 1500
Right behind the Silverado 1500, not surprisingly, is the RAM 1500, as these two vehicles compete for supremacy in the U.S. market. Used RAM 1500 vehicles stay on the market for an average of 52 days, according to the iSeeCars.com study. Edmunds reviewers gave the RAM 1500 high marks for roominess; they also note that the cabin is especially quiet while on the road. If you're looking for a truck for big jobs, the RAM 1500 might be for you; Edmunds cited the towing capabilities of the diesel engine. In 2021, buyers had a choice of seven trims and seven color schemes.
Ford F-150
The first Ford on the iSeeCars.com list of the fastest-selling light-duty pickup trucks is the Ford F-150, another strong competitor for the loyalty of pickup truck drivers around the world. The F-150 stayed fractionally longer on the market than the RAM 1500, at an average of 52.7 days. One of the main features as noticed by Edmunds reviewers: A complete selection of engine types. You can find gas, diesel, or hybrid options in the F-150. Reviewers also cited "eye-popping towing capacity" as well as an easy-to-use interior infotainment system. The 2021 models came with the choice of two trims and eight colors.
GMC Sierra 1500
You have a similar amount of time on average to decide if you want to act on the nifty-looking used GMC Sierra 1500 you spot for sale. Like the Ford F-150, the GMC Sierra 1500 lasts an average of about 52.7 days on the secondary market. The GMC Sierra 1500 gets top grades for its "massive bed capacity" as well as numerous tie-down points for those times when you have a lot to move, according to Edmund.
Reviewers also gave thumbs-up to an easy-to-use and attractive interior infotainment display as well as the extra legroom provided to rear passengers in the long cabin. Engine choices range from a four-cylinder to the 6.2 liter V-8. The GMC Sierra 1500 comes in only one trim but offers nine exterior colors.
